I am curious if anyone has used either the impact snap (mentioned on another post) or the swing jacket. If so what has been your experience or other suggestions for someone who struggles with a flip and fat shots vs hitting down on the ball and taking a divot past the ball. Would my money be better spent on lessons?

I would say your money is better spent on lessons IF (and it's one big if) you can find a competent instructor.

mgrin Impact Snap will have an immediate impact (pun intented) on your swing. It places the hands and upper body in the proper position for an authoritative strike. Lessons are a gamble, and depend entirely on the professional. One question will weed out unknowledgeable instructors, how does the trailing hip and knee move at the start of the downswing?

Impact Snap best training aid of all time IMO. Swingyde kinda does the same thing but Impact Snap is way better. The "feel" you get when training with one the majority of golfers have never felt (guessing over 90%) all good golfers and pro's have this factor in their swing. This is why so many high hdcp golfers struggle. Easy to use at home without going to range and then ingrain the "feel". Once you try one you will be amazed at what you have missed when that yellow ball is under your trail hand and you maintain The Flying Wedge. Fixes so many swing issues that we all have.

The other training aid I like is the Whippy TempoMaster. Unlike the Orange Whip which does the same thing you can hit balls warming up or training makes it superior to the OW.

I’ve got all kinds of training aids including the Impact Snap, and never use them. I’ve been waiting for my new shop to be built, but all this rain we’ve had this past winter has put a damper on that. Gonna install a hitting bay for my sim, then break out every freakin training aid I have and work on my swing until I get it back to where it used to be. Impact snap, Greg Norman’s Secret, The Golf Swing Shirt, DST Compressor, tempo trainers, etc., I’ve got em all, and my swing still sucks, lol.

JeffTilley I've been curious about the Swing Shirt and the DST Compressor (less so for this one). What are your thoughts on them?

I posted a video of this guy Michael Broderick giving a lesson in the non traditional swing thread. He uses a roll of saran wrap and puts it on a wood like he does here. Get it to snap to the bottom of the club past the ball. A cheap training aid that looks to work pretty nicely.

I have had the swingshirt for about 5-6 years. I use it to practice in the Spring of the year and periodically during the season. I think it helps me stay connected and lessens the overall swing. Which for me can be good.

The shirt does help your arms stay connected, but like all the other aids, I’ve not used it enough to see tangible results.
