It's exactly what I said it was... A swingpath issue.
You will struggle with my 7 iron drill because you have never hit a solid ball right of the target from the original lie.
No big deal though and I'll prove it to you.
Look at Video #1.
If you were to tie a fat piece of ribbon around the hosel of that club, say the same color of your shirt and about two feet long (just picture it on there)...
At takeaway, would the ribbon come UP AND AWAY from the ball and then "paint" a pretty red float ribbon of red LEFT of your intended target in that video? Yes or No
(same question a different way) - If I were standing there with you as you addressed the ball, BEFORE takeaway, would it be easier for me to place both hands on your shoulders from in front of you and push ever so slightly and knock you off balance toward you heels - OR - would it be easier if I were behind you and place both hands on your back and tried, ever so slightly to push you off balance toward your toes?
The answer is clearly... easier to push you back onto your heels as you are merely too close to the ball at address.
The ONLY way that you can take the club away is UP AND OUTSIDE ads you would topple backwards if you turned away from the ball.
The ONLY result is an outide -in swing path which is steep and to the LEFT of your target line.
Short irons feel good and solid but end up left side or left trap. You have rarely hit a 9 iron right of the green.
Middle irons feel harsh as you are coming DOWN into the ball as opposed to into the back of the ball.
(Would you BOWL like that? You would get all gutter balls on the left and make a lot of loud ball dropping noises doing it by slamming the ball down toward the alley.)
(Would you too a ball underhanded to a child with that same backswing and forward swing move??? The poor kid would be running to his right all morning picking up balls in the grass)
The reality is that you are simply too close to the ball to get out of the way of yourself.
TURN back and TURN through.
But with your weigh back on your heels like that, you can ONLY lift the club. YOu can see that you actually almost fall at the end of that swing.
