Par4QC Typhoon may be the only exception on this board, but I very seriously doubt there is anyone here that has 10 yd. gaps on their clubs!! And hit those gaps with every shot, or even every 3rd shot!
It's just that I've never known Pros to frequent this place, except for Jake back on FGI.
So, if not having a 6i in the bag means you've got a loss of 20 yds. from the 5-7, I(personally) think you are full of shit. And if you cannot use that 5i for the distance you need of the missing 6i, well then, you got a problem with using any clubs.
As always, that's just my unbiased opinion. And you'll see me with 14 clubs in the bag every round. But, you'll need to play a round with me to see why.š
Unsure if that was meant for me but here's Tom Wishon's take on club head speed and loft gaps...... from Tom....."These are the mid iron club head speedsā¦..
mid iron speed over 72 mph ā 4* increments (average player)
mid iron speed 60-72 ā 5* increments (some seniors and some ladies)
mid iron speed under 60mph ā 6* increments (seniors and ladies)
You can make an argument to say that over 85mph you could go with 3 deg. increments but you never do because that will leave you with a very odd set makeup. So over 72mph you stay with 4 deg. and just live with the fact the distance gaps will increase to 15 yds or more as speed keeps going up from 85 with the mid iron."
