The Indoor final final....
My conclusion is they are all the same. Hahahaha...actually close. 2 clubs stood out, but not by a lot over the others and one was a dud.
Pretty cool. I hit everything just a little bit at Golfers warehouse, where I like to test. I also looked at the numbers from a couple other places I went that seemed to fall in line with Golfers Warehouse.
#1.... A tie...Cobra F9 Atmos TS 6s.
Best ball speed, forgiving and loves the middle, most total distance. Ability to change the weights and the Myfly adapter is great. I liked it with the Smoke 6.0 60 gram as well but sometimes, like today and last week my spin numbers are too low and I hit a smother hook. Last week when I hit the Atmos if felt unbalanced compared to the smoke. It was the grip. Today it was fine with the Crossline grip.
Ping G400 MAX.
Almost a tie on ball speed, 1 mph less. Total distance about the same. High launch and perfect spin. Stupid accurate. Felt like I could kill this thing and be in the fairway. Launch was just a bit too high with the Ping stocker but seemed perfect with the Kuro Kage and a touch less spin. No bad shots with either shaft but the Kuro Kage fits my Windows better and has more potential. Wish it had the myfly type adapter.
#2. Taylormade M5.
Only shaft I could test was the smoke 6.0. Least ball speed by 5 mph. Launch, spin on par with the Cobra. Not quite as forgiving. Best feeling/sounding head...Everything felt the same though. Total distance not there...8 yards behind.
#3. Callaway Flash subzero.
Smoke 60 6.0 shaft, best adjustability of all of them because u can adjust loft and face angle independently while keeping the shaft orientation the same. Love the sliding backweight. That's where the love ends. Spin was fine, like the Ping and the Cobra Atmos. Launch was Cobra and M5 like too. Ball speed was M5 like. Sound and feel was not pleasing. I hit this thing all over the clubface most of the time...i could find every fairway except my own. Today I hit it the best I ever have and it still was 15 yards behind.
My choice....
Ping G400 MAX. Ball speed was better than expected. Spin was perfect where with the Cobra it would sometimes get too low and even to high if I hit a block. A block with the Ping didn't produce as much spin as the Cobra.
Accuracy was good with the Cobra but stupid good with the Ping. Couple the with the fact that I could bring the launch down into cobra land ( 13.5 degrees vs 15.5 Ping) with the Kuro Kage and get the ball speed to Cobra numbers. I can see total distance beating the Cobra. Cobra did produce a few of my longest drives but the Ping still wins...Accuracy, forgiveness, just about the same total distance and the confidence to swing as hard as you can without consequence.
