Hey guys, thought I'd share my new Pinhawks setup. I originally played 2 rounds with PX 6.5 before reshafting. Summary with the PX- wedges were very high trajectory and long, 4 and 5 iron were a bit too low for my liking and a bit short distance wise. So as a result I deviated from the norm with the new build...
Shafts- Penley IMS red, 7.0 flex, 115 g. I bought ten 7-iron shafts for$5 each. Interestingly, 6 shafts were about 109g (which is to be expected), and 4 shafts were 119g- weird that they were off by 10g. I don't blame the seller, I guess the quality control wasn't the greatest. In any case, I put them in the wedges and it might be a blessing in disguise anyways as I've been playing x100's or s400s in my wedges for years.
Specs- 38" long ( standard 7 iron length for me)
-4,5,6 iron- straight in
-7,8,9 iron- tipped 0.5"
-PW,A,S,L- tipped 1"
I've played these shafts before in a standard set and the 7.5 flex was fine for me so I'm sure the 7.0 will work. I'm hoping the slightly softer flex in the long irons will help with trajectory and the heavier tipped shafts will lower my wedges a bit.
Unfortunately, I have to wait for
the snow to melt to try these out but very excited though! Once I have a few rounds under my belt, I'll report back
