It'll take a miracle for Duke to see Simba as therapy. Duke just turned 10 about a week ago. The evening we brought Simba home, he had this look of serious loathing and indifference on his face. If he could talk, he would've said, "WTF is this? I've been sick the past week, they found a mass on my pancreas, did a biopsy.. turns out it's just a serious bout of pancreatitis, but still.. for all you and I knew - my days were numbered. So I go through all of this shit, going back and forth to the vet, have to be put under so they could open me up and take a sample of the inflammation/infection that had built up, get home, still not feeling well... no appetite. Just to find out a week later that you'd already been eying my replacement.
And the worst part? He's not even a Yorkie! How could you? After all this, this is how you show your appreciation for me hanging on and fighting my ass off to continue being your best friend a few more precious years?
f--k you and f--k that disgrace of a thing that you call a dog."
He is not a fan of Simba. But it's just karma... 10 years ago he was the little pup we brought home, and Bandit (our mixed Lab we had to put down back in Nov of 2017, RIP) saw Duke as the same pain in the ass.
The vet said the new puppy might give Duke a little more energy and help him stay a little more active to help him hang around another year or two.
Hope so!
