After reading up on some health articles, I started drinking two cups of a beetroot supplement/day about a week ago. It's Bountiful Beets brand, available in most GNC sections at your local Rite Aid, or Walgreens, etc. It's a powder, you mix it with a cup of cold water (which I do), or can add a scoop to yogurt, etc. The only potential side-effect is that it might give your urine a pinkish hue (and bowel movement).
I don't like beets, never have. But the health benefits are numerous, especially for cardiovascular blood circulation, improved circulation in general, and helping control high blood pressure. Some claim it also helps inflammation in the joints. I'd love to see that occur in due time, but I'll take what I can get. My blood pressure has decreased significantly in just the past week I've been drinking it.
The taste is kinda chalky... but I just hold my nose while I drink it (it's only a cup). I kinda chug it and then drink a glass of water immediately afterward.
Outside of that, I take fish oil tablets, a one-a-day vitamin, and one aspirin every day.
As with any type of supplement, read the specifics (pros and cons, benefits and side-effects) before using. The container I bought has 30 servings, and cost me 18 bucks.
