Toulon It's pretty simple the car isn't going to be equidistant from both groups....it'll be closer to one or the other. There'll be ancillary damage potential with each choice. The choice is the BEST POSSIBLE OUTCOME not based on who is a doctor and who might be homeless.
So you'd make your decision based on which group you were closest to? I'm honestly not understanding how you're defining best possible outcome. Please elaborate. Least damage done? Fewest lives lost, regardless of age and other demographics? What do you use to make that decision in a tenth of a second? How would you instruct the autonomous vehicle?
Toulon I deflected nothing.
I disagree. You refuted your hypocrisy by highlighting that the two issues not equally important. That's true, but it wasn't the point. The point was you suggested telling someone how they should feel was wrong/offensive (I agree) but you did just that in the example I referenced. Hypocrisy. I posted the definition to reduce confusion. 🤔 Also telling is the response in that thread from another member to your declaration was that he could not believe you typed something so pompous.
Toulon You have yet to deal with the idea of weigthing people's lives. Why is that? My guess is you agree.
How do you determine the best outcome without weighing people's lives in the situation described? I've already said the "criminal" identification is out of place since it seems impossible to determine that in an emergency situation, just as "doctor" or "philanthropist" would be silly choices. You can't interview the subjects prior to deciding who dies in an emergency situation. But young/old, overall number of lives, etc.? Those seem like normal considerations a person would make.
If I absolutely could identify a violent criminal vs a 9 year old girl scout, and one of them has to die, it's not the girl scout.
Toulon Not an ass at all.
We all know you believe that. You may benefit from taking time to consider why so many would object. You come across as someone who cannot tolerate being questioned or challenged, even politely. You are often condescending, dismissive, and aggressive even when someone makes a passive remark about how THEY feel about something. I agree with you on a lot of things, and it's almost embarrassing because of how you conduct yourself. No one wants to be delivered a good idea/thought via a dry fist up the ass.
The football thread is a good example. You shared your opinions. Others shared their opinions. You attacked them and their opinions. Ass, much? Or rather, a dry fist up it.
