Mattyv Nippon made the ghtour series in both parallel and taper, they were both discreet length. Many of their other designs followed suit, including the modus line, with the exception of the modus 125, which is only available in taper. It is possible however that they made a variation of the 1050 for Cleveland that needed to be tipped, but that does not make a ton of sense. If you have a way of measuring the pts, that would be a good start. I know the parallel GH tours all had a little pts to play with, despite being discreet length, i tried to find this info but could not. I took a peek at my 1150,s and the step patteen is same and the tips are roughly 0.5" longer per shaft the longer the iron.
I want to say the pts section on the parallel GH tour was around 4". If their is a short pts on the/1040,s then likely discreet, if it is longer like a typical blank then you should be good.
