professor
You've never taught me a thing about myself on the board. Maybe, in PM during some difficult issues but as to this. no. Why do you believe you have? Is that your confimation bias again? I'd love to know what basis you have for what you're saying here other than you being the basis for it? You don't hold any intellectual advantage over me whatsoever despite that need to believe that you do.
My special brand of objectivity is that I'm not a conservative or liberal. Can you say the same? Don't hate me for that and try diminishing me because you happen to be on a side of the fence. You can't offer objectivity on your side so it's interesting that you can tell me what I can or can't do when I'm not on either side. By definition your perspective is badly warped (not objective). Again, you use your warped sense of non-objectivity to paint me as you wish not as I am.
The reason I speak as I do about liberalism is it's hidden for years playing possum that it is objective when it's never been nor aimed to be. I find that dishonest and don't respect it. I was fed liberal news most of my life. It's not the educated who become liberal...it's the conditioned. You see it the other way. I see how and why things are as they are. A person growing up on Fox news at least knows it's a conservative clown show. Those like me had no idea the agenda that was taking place watching the CBS, ABC and NBC of the world.
As I've said, I'm an issues guy. I'm not a one size fits all. Nobody who is educated nor intelligent could just align with every single idea espoused by any party or side. That negates any real thinking. That's cultish. Tell me what we see on both sides doesn't feel a little kool aidish. Your side can do no wrong! If it did, it would mean you're wrong and we can't have that, can we?
I'll rip my favorite football team, my own self, and see things I love as they are. It takes practice to do that. I've tried very hard to to see all sides of everything mostly myself. Why do I believe what I believe? it's a worthy investigation that should be ongoing every day of your life.
Politics is really a study in self in a way. I understand that I don't determine anything in this life. You would be wise to step back and realize the same. You're one of billions who have wallked this planet. While special in your own right there's nothing beyond that that makes you more special. I think that's hard for you realizing your limitations. I embrace them. I know I don't know. You live in the prison of thinking you do. Those walls warp and confine. Come out of the cage. Put down that need to feel better than someone from an intellectual standpoint. I'll bet you'd find that very freeing. Acting is tough.
Start: My name is professor, and I'm a liberal, and think I'm smarter than you. What I believe aligns with the bright minds of universities across this country so I have my justification. (not so hard)
EDIT: ever wonder why we can't talk Politics on this board or elsewhere? Someone will get their feelings hurt. It's deeply personal to so many. It's not personal to me. it's a way of thinking and everyone's right to think how they choose to think. It does not bother me that you are liberal. It does not bother me that someone is conservative. What does bother me is when someone in either camp professes that their side is superior. That's a reflection of smallness on the inside. That need to feel superior through one's politics can't be messed with that's why we can't talk about them because we're really talking about you personally and we can't have that. Political attacks do not equal personal attacks but that's how we live and operate.
