Well the Wishons arrived yesterday. Very nice looking. Discussed with my buddy here who bought some too (the prick) to go with his Pinhawks. what shaft to put in them. He went with Apollo World Tour 460 Graphite...(yeah I know...even Jeff Summit has never heard of them...figures they were a shaft built for a company to use proprietarily.
.. I actually asked him)
Anywho. John went with the graphite because he needs heavy shafts and can't hit steel due to elbow problems. These Apollos are 106 grams. Very heavy for graphite. We'll see how these work...
I decided to go with the FST 115 in S/X flex to keep the flight down since I hit a high ball anyway. Aiming for about 308 cpm for the 7 1/2 iron length that I am making them. I can undertip them to get to that without sacrificing the mid trajectory of the shaft too much.
I decided I like a heavier shaft (than the 75 gram ones I currently have in my S800's, and would have gone for the FST90's but they are 41" raw at 100g. the 115's are 43" and 115g. So in reality the 90's are only about 9 grams lighter than the 115's ( at 41" each)...AND the 90's only come in A/R flex and are high launch. Tipping to get to 308 would be hell.... and my short irons would be moon shots.
I will keep you updated on my progress, but I think I may only get one iron built to test before the snow flies unfortunately.
