Agree.
Hey - USGA dickheads: wanna know how to deal with the issue of how far guys are hitting the ball today? Hope you're watching the 2018 Ryder Cup! And also take note - their greens are actually green, not the light brown you folks prefer.
Am I the only guy on this forum who actually likes this course layout/setup? I like that there's a premium with hitting a fairway. I like that missing a green gives a player more than just one option if he just misses off to the side. I like that there's not been a single solitary moment where a rules official had to be called in because the wind blew a ball off it's original lie on the green. This golf course, imo, is absolutely FANTASTIC. The layout has character.
That aside....
It was good to see Spieth/Thomas mesh well today in both sessions. Huge wins, for a team that went into today needing every point earned, or half point for that matter. Also nice to finally see Webb Simpson actually show up and contribute.
Mickelson is (unfortunately) the lone wolf for the cause. This will be his last Ryder Cup as a player. His woeful performance, which most of us expected, granted, forced Furyk's hand and he had no other choice but to sit him.
We can be critical of the Day2 pairings, we can Monday Morning quarterback Furyk's leadership. But at the end of the day, the guys who show up and execute good golf shots and turn 5's into 4's and 4's into 3's in this event generally get the reward.
Europe has simply outplayed us.
Alternate shot is a great format imo. Having played this format in tournament golf while living in London for two years - I have the privilege of better understanding the nuances and the ebbs and flows of this particular format than most. It's a tough format!
But we need a miracle tomorrow. We need to get to 14 points to retain the cup. That means we need to win 8 of the 12 matches tomorrow.
All hands on deck.
