Anyone Watch the Pilot for Manifest on NBC?
About as engrossing of a pilot as I've ever seen.
With NBC you always have to worry they're going to cancel a show before you ever get any kind of payoff but I'm going to ride with this one until that happens.
For those who don't know, it's about a flight that appears to be just like any other flight to the people aboard the plane but when they land they're told 5 years 6 months and 28 days have passed. One of the characters is a little boy who has terminal leukemia and a twin sister he reunites with to find her all grown up.
Soon after landing the passengers of the flight start receiving messages in their heads prompting them to take some type of action that is beneficial to the world.
Of course the government is fast at work trying to understand how this could be possible and go over the plane with a fine toothed comb.
The show ends with many of the passengers standing outside the gate of where the plane has been moved when it suddenly spontaneously combusts as one of the passenger narrates that whatever brought them back had no interest in being discovered.
Obviously there are many personal story lines here about how being gone for over 5.5 yeaars has affected each individual and those around them.
Very good stuff. A promising beginning but this is NBC. I hope they don't ruin it.
