I guess I just get tired of hearing the mouthpieces on Golf Channel talking about how viewer ratings are down. Of course they're gonna be down. The season is too long. The coverage on the weekends is too long and the coverage is atrocious for the most part. Who wants to spend 4 hours on a Sunday in late September watching Keegan Bradley stalking a 4-footer to save par like it's a serial killer trying to off his entire family in the middle of the night?
Most of the guys competing for the $10 million are already millionaires several times over. Where's the drama in that? Wanna make it interesting - the guys who finish in the top-5 but don't win have to have their heads shaved by the winner. Make it like pro wrestling back in the day. Make it interesting, instead of writing checks out to guys who already have more money than Quakers have oats.
Part of what made Barnum and Bailey so popular is that they didn't show up with their 3-ring circus for 4 days, every week of the year.
The tour season is too long, the money-grab FedEx Cup racket doesn't attract viewers. I don't know of anyone in my inner circle who witnessed, much less had their life changed, when Bill Haas splashed out from the lake back 7 years ago and made the putt, as impressive as it was.
End the season in October, start it back up in March, and separate the wheat from the chaff. If you make it in the top 125 of the money list - you're in next season. If not, check out the Nationwide Tour.
And while you're at it - get off my lawn! 😝
