I've played my best golf using a Hammy side-saddle putter, including a 72 and numerous rounds in the 70s. That was probably 6-7 years ago. I stopped using the Hammy after having a few terrible rounds of putting. I just lost confidence in the putter which was more than likely due to my own lack of total commitment, a variation in the correct set-up, and just getting tired of the ridicule from my golf buddies calling me "Suzy Side-Saddle". Since then, I've tried numerous putters and styles to no avail. If I was a good to very good putter, I'd be a 6-7 handicap instead of probably a 12-14. In fact, I was a 6 handicap when I was using the Hammy. I'm at the point where I am seriously considering bringing the Hammy out of the garage and commit to it for a year. It always felt very natural to me. I was a good basketball player in my youth and I always thought of using a side-saddle or face-on putter similar to shooting baskets. Face the target and throw the ball.
