PING G 25 vs New PING G series drivers

Looking at the Cobra thread made me wonder about what the difference is between my current G 25 driver and the newer G 400 series of drivers. Especially the G 400 Max. Any input would be appreciated. My current driver is very good, but it does seem to have a little to much spin. I haven't been on a monitor to see how much it spins but when I really hit one on the "screws" I get good carry distance (for me) but not a lot of roll out. However I do need 12* of loft so some the new G series onlyo up to 10 or 10.5. I am not one who likes the ability to change lofts with the settings in the hosel.

It's been enough models in between the g25 and the g400 series to see some benefit. The G25 did have too much spin but depending on your clubhead speed and launch angle the spin might be something you need.

The g400 max is fantastic. I never compared it to anything on a launch monitor but hitting it at demo days it's just one good ball after another.

Instead of bothering with a fitting, why don't you take your g25 to a store with a launch monitor and hit it side by side with the g400 series just to see what the gain is if any. Then you'll see if one if 20 yards further than the other. Do it a few times on different days too. Get a good sample.

I have the Ping G30 Sf Tec (12 degree), G Sf Tec (10 degree) and a G400 Sf Tec (10 degree). All 3 are very good for my swing. All are the same distance wise. The G400 (445 cc) is marketed as more forgiving and the G Max is more forgiving than the G400 and any other driver out there. Do I notice more forgiveness? Not really.

I like a draw bias driver, but as you say the G Max and regular G400 don't come in a 12 degree loft. I'd try the G Max in 10.5 and loft it up to 11.5 degrees and see what you get. Also, you could try the G400 in the Sf Tec in 12 degrees and loft it down to 11.4 degrees or down to 11 degrees and see what happens. Lofting down will open the face and may negate the heel weighting draw bias.

Worth a try to see if they perform better than the G25 for you.

Save your money, unless you are willing to go lower in loft. 12* is gonna give a lot of spin in just about any driver head. Also factor in your AoA.
