Tiger struck the ball well and his fairway and green stats confirm that. His putting and short game were also good. He has found his way into contention a few times over this season but every time he quickly falters. He did the same yesterday .To me this suggests its in his head , whether he gets uncomfortable because he hasnt won in such a long time, starts thinking too much or just unable to contorl his emotions....who knows.....but the Tiger of old would never fold up once he had a lead....he would increSe that lead.....so to me and until such time that he can prove he is capable of playing with the lead and wins......Tiger is not back, but he is playing good golf.
With his top 10 he should have moved to the top 50 which means he will get into Firestone, a place he has owned and maybe that familiarity and confidence will be enough to get him into the winner's circle. I do think should he find a win , he could win a few more Tourneys before he hangs them up. In my mind, doubtful he will grab another major, but if he does it will be at Augusta with the small field and so many entrants that are legacy placeholders with no chance. Jack won there at 46, so there is a slim chance Tiger can do the same.
