I've always read that there are two types of club builders: those who have snapped a head while doing an adjustment and those who are going to experience this at some point. Well, my time came. The thing that surprises me is that it came with a KE4 forged iron. I bent the other irons in the set with no problem. In fact, I was surprised at how easy it was to move them a long way. I had to be careful so as not to move them too much with a bit of force. I was even thinking, "How don't these irons move when being hit?" Then came the 8-iron. I only needed to move it a small amount, but it didn't seem to want to move. I gave it a little extra pressure and SNAP, it was gone.
Is there any reason this might have happened? I was thinking that maybe I put the bending bar too close to the base of the hosel, but I'm not sure.
