sdandrea1 You may not like them on or around the greens, but I have found that the cheap-ass 2-piece distance balls actually fly further for me. Top Flite XL Distance, D2 Distance, Slazenger Raw Distance, Callaway War Bird, etc.
Rickochet sdandrea1 You may not like them on or around the greens, but I have found that the cheap-ass 2-piece distance balls actually fly further for me. Sounds sort of like the original Top Flite Gamer which not dependable for me on chip shots. Some would check up and others not. My fav ball of all time was the Top Flite XL 2000. Nice crisp feel but not too hard. Dicks had a mountain of these on sale in double 15 packs years ago and I bought a bunch. I just pulled the trigger on some used Chrome Soft, so we shall see. 😜
sdandrea1 Rickochet Gamer is a 3 piece ball. I actually prefer the 2 piece balls, the older I get. Once I adjust to how they react to chips and putts, I like 'em!
johnnydoom Rickochet The one I found was noticeably softer than a ProV1X or Srixon Q-Star Tours that I bought off a used ball website. It may be like Sneakylong said that you had the X version. Just like Sneakylong, based on my experience with the few holes I've played, the Chrome Soft would be my ball if I felt like I could afford it. Probably be the next ball I get if I buy more used balls. The Q-Star Tour feels nearly as good and seems to play almost identical for me as well.
Rickochet Spuzz No wonder you have no feeling in your hands It isn't a lack of feel, it is too much. 😫 BTW, the TF Freak was a nice ball also and similar in feel to the XL2000. The XL2000 was not one of the old Top Rocks. I think the Freak was made when Cally owned the name.
RobertThomas sdandrea1 Really? What are you, 90 years old??? Do you really need the distance that crap balls give you off the tee? I am dissapointed in you. 😏
sdandrea1 Rickochet XL2000 was not one of the old Top Rocks The XL2000 was an awesome ball. Wish they had kept that formula.
Spuzz sdandrea1 Rickochet XL2000 was not one of the old Top Rocks The XL2000 was an awesome ball. Wish they had kept that formula. No older Top Rock ball was any good except for driver tee offs in scrambles. lol
letthebigdogshunt sdandrea1 The XL 2000 was the ball I used to make my first hole in one. It must have been an omen, the year was also 2000
sdandrea1 Spuzz No older Top Rock ball was any good except for driver tee offs in scrambles. I think the proper term was Rock Flites. C'mon man! 😉
garyt1957 Rickochet Seriously, how many times does that happen? I'll be kinda excited to find a new ball to try and boom, first shot I lose it.
Spuzz I have a sleeve of Cally Chrome but use them for putting only. I did play a few holes with a used one I found and liked them. Spin was good, which is a bigger priority for me than feel.
rsvman Spuzz Not to go all Atticus Finch on you or anything, but you do know that using them "just for putting" is against the rules unless you mean practice putting or you are playing in a scramble, right? Just making sure.
darpar Been playing the chrome X for awhile now, long ball off the tee and putts well with a good feel. Even played 3 1/2 league rounds with the same Cally ball recently....new 1 ball record for me!🤔
Par4QC RobertThomas He doesn't realize the Gamer is longer than any 2 pc. ball, slow swing notwithstanding. I'm slower than him and use it...always.
Rickochet RobertThomas Really? What are you, 90 years old??? Do you really need the distance that crap balls give you off the tee? I am dissapointed in you. One of my 76 year old buds has dozens of new balls at home in the closet that his kids have given him over the years. He prefers to play a dirty old crow bait ball he pulled out of the lake and when it goes nowhere he complains about the distance. Go figure. 👴
mulegolf I also liked the TF 2000 balls. I also liked the TF D2 Feel balls when they came out. As for the Callaway Chrome balls, I think the Chrome+ balls go farther for me than the Chrome Soft balls do. I like them both but need to be hitting the ball solidly to get any benefit from the Chrome Soft.
sdandrea1 RobertThomas Your still a kid, play a real ball. 🙂 And happy birthday! Thanks! In truth, I can shoot my best scores with cheap ass golf balls, so I don't pay more. Honestly what I spend on a ball historically has had zero effect on my scores.
Rickochet sdandrea1 Thanks! In truth, I can shoot my best scores with cheap ass golf balls, so I don't pay more. I have to have a nice shiny ball and it must have a certain feel to it or it messes with my mind and does have a negative impact on my score. If I get hooked on a premium ball I buy them recycled. I just bought some Chrome Soft mint for $21.95 doz.
