I bought an 82" DLP back in 2011. It had been experiencing weird noises over the last few months and finally gave out a few days ago. I'm pretty sure the color wheel is a goner and it's not easy to fix nor find here in America and it's time to move on...
When I bought the DLP it was all about LCD vs. Plasma. Now, in my research things are really a marketing translation nightmare. LED, LCD, OLED, XLED, HDR, FALD, Dolby Vision, all the smoke and mirrors on refresh rate manipulation, 4K, edge lit, curved screens, different operating systems if you get a smart TV like most do.
How in the world did you choose your TV if you purchased one over the last couple of years? I'm going through withdrawals and trying to find a TV that will last me longer than the time the old 82 incher gave me.
Tell me your stories...your likes, dislikes, and what is really important to you? For me, I like size, picture, contrast ratio, price and viewing angle. I don't really care about Smart functionality as I have a laptop I just HDMI to it.
What about brands? I've seen a lot of comparisons that a lot of these goofy off brands really aren't all that far off from the big names and bigger prices save for maybe OLED models.
So, what'd you do...how'd you decide?
