PA-PLAYA you just explained to me why I would pay for one course only. I’m impatient, playing a sub 4 hour round is where it’s at for me. I have a ~10 second pre shot routine, not really fast persay, but if I’m allowed to cruise at my own pace, I’ll finish 18 in less than 3 hours, walking.
The only reason I miss high school, we had a “coach” who would get 12 guys to the course, off the bus, play 9 holes walking and be back on the bus in an hour and half. He had places to be drinking (though he often started there), he sucked as a coach in general. Luckily he had a lot of talent on the team and we all practiced together on our own, had 2 undefeated seasons and another 2 where we won all but 2 I believe. the one thing he always preached and I wish EVERYONE was taught was how to be efficient around the course.
Little things, when you get to the first tee, a coin, pitch repair tool and a couple tees go in one pocket, score card is filled out for names and pencil is kept where you can find it. An extra couple balls are easily in reach in case you need to hit a provisional, oh and all balls in your bag are CLEARLY marked as yours with something that can be seen no matter how the ball lies. Little known fact, I started ⚽ pattern, Callaway stole it. When you get to where you are going to hit your shot, the bag goes where you will be walking next, always slightly in front of your path and behind your back when you are swinging so you don’t see it and can’t hit it. If you are approaching a green where the tee for the next hole is going backwards, leave the bag, take your approach clubs and putter. The flag is laid out of the way, but ideally so the person with the shortest putt can grab it and replace it on the way off the green.
These things saved 15-20 minutes a round, no walking backwards, no questions on which ball was whom’s, never dicking around with “where’s my marker, pitch took, etc”. You hit, go hit again, putt and get the f on to the next hole. It’s a thing of beauty really.
