Provisional
I thought it would be extremely difficult to just flat-out not eat, as I've had a huge appetite since I was a toddler. But, after the surgery, I was on a liquid diet for a week, then semi-solids (applesauce, jello, mashed potatoes) for a week. A half slice of toast or about 6 crackers in the third week, then finally soft foods weeks 4-7. By the eighth week, I had learned that if I ate too much, I'd wind up throwing up within a half hour, and have stomach cramping. My eyes have become much bigger than my stomach - I can barely eat a single hamburger on a bun, and I've learned that french fries just don't set well - having 4 small steak fries just turns my stomach.
I can literally go all day without eating, as I no longer have the growling stomach and hunger pains. I literally have to remind myself to eat three times a day. Breakfast might be two English muffins, or toast, or 3 granola bars. Lunch is usually less than half of a Subway sub, or a chicken sandwich at BK or McD's. Dinner is whatever I can find, but I can't even eat half of a ten inch plate, much less the two heaping 12" platefulls that I used to.
