Report from my second round with the 915D2. This time I had already planned to test the Red 50 shaft in place of the Blue 60 that I used last time. I bought a 17 gram weight to eventually use in place of the stock 7 gram, when I got around to trying the driver at 44 inches. Which is where I always end up. Anyway, I put the heavy weight in and took a couple of swings with the stock 45 inch length at home and thought, "Damn, this really is nice, I can feel where the club is during the swing." It's a D6 swingweight.
So that's how I played it today. I hit it great for direction and distance. I am easily 15+ yards longer than my old Nike, if not more. This high swingweight driver thing is an eye-opener. The swing felt like an LPGA swing, where it looks like some of them are making a long, smooth swing with a heavy club.
I'll keep piddling with it as far as swingweight, and also I'll have to try the other shaft with the heavier head. Although it will be hard to improve on what happened today. I'm not a golf club honeymoon guy, so I feel good about this. If it holds up, I don't know what to think clubfitting-wise about the rest of my set. I've always been very conscious and careful with swingweight. I've tried light and heavy, and always settled in on D0 as the best.
