Was a 10-finger grip player for years, up until I had a sore develop on the outside knuckle of my pinky finger, which turned into a blister.
The only way I could play golf for the next month or so was to change my grip, it was that painful.
I tried the interlocking grip, and although it took a good week or two to get accustomed to it - it gradually felt more and more natural and also took my dominant hand out of the equation in the process, which I occasionally struggled with doing the 10-finger style.
It ended up being a godsend. My hands aren't that big to begin with, so the interlocking just felt like I had more control of the club at impact, without any dominating hand manipulation. That was probably a decade or so ago when I made the change.
But I still utilize the 10-finger grip on pitch and chip shots. I just could never get comfortable with the interlocking on the shots around the greens.
