While I was living in London for two years, there was an Irish guy at the club I joined.
So the club captain approaches me about a week after I've been there, asks me if I would be interesting in joining the club's traveling golf team. I told him I'd think it over and let him know. While we were there, he introduced me to John (the Irishman). I was about to go out to play, when John asks, "mind if I go knock it around with ye?" I said sure.
Damn. Cross handed. His handicap was 1. Hit the ball a pretty good long way, good irons, very tidy short game, great putter. I'm just guessing, but the release of the club would seem to be much more pronounced cross handed than the regular way. But still....
Anyway... come to find out that he'd grown up playing cricket, and that was the way he held the bat. Interesting character, loved his Guinness, and was a very fun guy to play golf with.
