I guess that this post is going to reflect my age and generation.
While I recognize the tragedy of Prince dying so young, his musical impact on my life is nil when compared to recently deceased Paul Kantner.
There may never have been a Jefferson Airplane without him.
In the interesting, turbulent, political times that I grew up in, he and his band wrote songs that were considered dangerous by the political ruling elite.
NWA's song 30 years later with "Fuck The Police" was paved by " We Can Be Together...Up Against The Wall Motherfucker"
Kantner...
"Wooden Ships" - " Crown of Creation" - "Volunteers"
I still play his album "Blows Against The Empire", top down, Fender system at 11.
"The Baby Tree", " A Child Is Coming", "Have You Seen The Stars Tonight"...
His death made me sad and contemplative of my own time on this earth.
Closing, paraphrasing Pete Townshend -
He was my generation baby.
