Depending on your club head speed more loft is required to help get the ball in the air unless you add loft by flipping more. Since, I am a Sr. and fit many seniors and ladies I see this day in and day out. As club head speed drops and release becomes more early this should make total sense to the majority that understand these factors. Personally, I use Swing Science FC-One A driver at 12.5 deg (I have a +AofA that yields a 14 deg. launch angle so I don't require more loft than that) and a Swing Science FC-One A fairway at 17 deg. both have closed face angles that as I get older helps close the club face.
Even though the sole says #3 it is set at 17* and measure actual loft at 17 deg. BTW...here is the perfect example of why the number on the club means nothing and actual loft is what is important. 😊
