Almo on Prince:
He was a performer/showman of the first order and could play most anything and a very good songwriter/singer. He was always overshadowed by M. Jackson. I thought Prince was better, personally. JMO
Yes...he was greatly underrated to be sure. He knew how to move the audience and his visual movements on stage were as extraordinary as Pete Townsend. He made it all look so natural. He surrounded himself with other gifted musicians. Most smart ones do. Hendrix didn't and could get away with it as he was so great himself...it didn't matter. As for the post where Clapton says, "Ask Prince". Pleaseeeee! Clapton could 'smoke' Prince on guitar. Prince, although very good on guitar, used the guitar more as a prop. No soul on it at all.
The one thing that was missed is many years ago I always thought he would be the one to play Hendrix in a bio movie. Anyway...a really great talent that was under rated is gone...
