jmb0744 Anyone gamed putter with a standard round iron/wood grip recently? Rainy day today in the garage inspired me to do something. My Tear Drop backup (same as gamer) putter that has been sitting idle some time now with no grip. Couldn't find a putter grip I liked so I stuck one my round standard Zero Friction Crossline style .600 Round grips on it and putted around with it. I really like the feel and release I was getting. I was debating going back to a pistol after my current SuperStroke'ed putter has yielded less than desirable results. My first ever putter was no name PIAS special and I had a small standard grip on it if I do recall and was probably some of my best putting days. Maybe winter is setting in on me to much or maybe I found the missing link. Time will tell. Anybody else have a skinny grip on their putter?
fatshot jmb0744 I still do that occasionally if I'm trying a different putter and don't have a flat topped putter grip. In that case I'll slap on an oversized round grip and try it out. Personally, I don't think I putt as well that way though.....
Spuzz Used to do this quite a bit with good results. Just recently put the white Lamkin wedge grip on my extended putter to try out. Seems good on the carpet so far 🙂
colej I would think someone with a arcing putting stroke would do well with that grip. Someone who’s straight back and straight through? Maybe not so much?
Weirfan Non round grips and handles on putters is a recent phenomena before which round handles were used for hundreds of years. Some might have trouble aligning the putter head but hey, If it works for you, go for it.
Tinker I don’t mind round grips at all. I don’t care for jumbo stuff. I’m not a very mechanical player. I play more by feel.
ptjn1201 I had a round belly putter grip on conventional length putters for years. Recently tried one of the fat Lamkins and am liking it so far. One brother-in-law insisted on a round grip for his putter -- thought it simplified things. And I've had the same 17" round grips on wedges -- makes it easy to grip down.
