The blades of bent grass grow more straight up and down, and the ball tends to sit up on top of the grass, so the club slides conveniently underneath it.
Down here it seems like the blades of grass spread out along the ground and the lie is pretty close to the ground. There's less room for error, and the ball must be "nipped" more precisely.
If you've learned to hit irons and chip under these conditions, no problem.....
you'd probably play even better on northern bent grass! But
it seems that the reverse isn't true.....very hard to come down here and play under different (tougher) conditions!
