Weirfan The word elitist is what has ruffled feathers here. We live in a world where calling something as it is, in an of itself is no longer acceptable. Had we said â well off folksâ 85% of the arguments would not exist. Most here would agree they are well off, but not elitist. No, not them.
Iâm in a great đ mood, but honestly, 99.9% of this board wouldnât step foot on the courts/turf that has raised the athletes other sports to greatness because they would be scared to get their ass kicked. You donât want to believe you are a privileged, white male, who had life easy enough to have somebody introduce you to a high priced sport? Stand up and proclaim it. I know there might be 6 guys here that donât fit that mold, the rest of you, get a grip. The few that caught the bug because you happened to grow up around it and somebody gave you some scraps to play with and you pushed it further, good for you. I know thatâs not the majority, Iâm not going to play the â not in my townâ game, because I know Spuzz is from Canada and I know the lowest cost round I have ever played there still rivals the most expensive round I can play in a 50 mile radius and if I go back to my home town, thatâs the equivalent of 3 rounds, so you are a spoiled prick and I donât care if Tiger was the influence for the younger generation or not.
I was spoiled, I didnât realize it. By national standards, we almost met poverty levels, but my family was in good shape compared to the rest of the area. Iâm still living comfortably, I do well for myself, Iâm a 33 year old, white male, I play golf, I got interested because Tiger made golf interesting and I donât give a f who knows it. If you have such a radically different version of the story, tell us, back it with facts, not just 60 year old opinions. Just because you and your friends have seen it a certain way for a longer time than Iâve been alive doesnât make it fact. The world isnât flat and that was âFACTâ for thousands of years.
Peter rolled out facts. Prove your point.
