I'll just address the Confederate Statues. For many African Americans, Confederate statues represent memorializing terrorists. They represent the so called original sin (slavery) of the U.S.. For an African American to have to walk by a public place and see something that represents subjugation of their ancestors and be offended is understandable IMO.
The Civil War is a part of our history. But these Confederate statues belong in cemeteries or museums and not in front of Town halls.
Bottom line for me is people's opinions who were born to white privilege should take a backseat to the opinions of the ethnicity / race of the people who say they're offended.
Seems like common sense to me, but as Abraham Lincoln said, 'the problem with common sense is that it's not all that common.'
