Over the years, nothing unusual to have pack rats eat through wiring on construction equipment. As the transition was made to more on-board computers, they would chew on printed circuit boards. I saw one boring machine left in a road ditch over a weekend cost the contractor over $10,000 in electrical damage from pack rats.
Worked with a young man some years ago. He and his wife were driving somewhere and the blower fan quit working. The fuse was blown so he replaced it. Fan wouldn't start. Just blew the new fuse. Took it into the dealership the next day. They pulled the dash apart and found a bull snake tangled up in the fan... dead... with a dead mouse in its mouth. Pulled the snake out of the fan. Replaced the fuse. No more trouble.
Hundreds of squirrels on our golf course. During the summer months, don't leave candy bars, crackers, etc. in the golf cart. The squirrels have been known to jump up in a cart while someone is walking to their ball and make off with "treats".
