Yep, understand. I also understand that going all the way back to 1967 - the winning SB teams have averaged over 30 ppg. To discount the importance of a great offense and good play calling is being obtuse.
The Vikings should've lost that game last week. A missed tackle was the difference. 2nd best defense in the league won, because of a missed tackle.
An hour earlier - the so-called best defense in the league won because a head coach/offensive coordinator from the opposing team who made absolutely horrendous decisions the last 5 minutes of regulation that essentially removed the possibility of their team winning.
I'm inclined to argue that having a knowledgeable, competent head coach who can manage his sh*t in crunch time, or having a defensive back who can make a routine tackle, is equally as valuable as having the 1st or 2nd best defense in the league.
Based on those two games alone - I'm not buying the "defense wins championships" bullshit, but rather that "execution" wins championships.
Be it offense or defense.
They're one in the same.
