I've been playing since I was 12 years old (OMG....60 years ago!!) So, I've been through a ton of different golf balls, as you can imagine! At first, I played whatever was round and white....then in the early '70's I got a summer job in a pro shop and a whole new world opened up to me! It was about that time the Spalding Top Flite came out, so I jumped on that bandwagon. My best ever score (a one under par 70....missed a 3 footer for 69 on the 18th hole!) was shot with the Top Flite....I still have that ball too. As I got better, I gravitated to Titleist products, first the DT, and then the other less-than-top-of-the-line Titleist brands. Played the Pinnacle and the Pinnacle Exception a lot, if I remember correctly. My second best score (even par 71 a few years ago) was shot with a Top Flite D2 Feel....still have that one as well. Now that I'm older I'm really liking the newer softer, lower compression balls that they're coming out with for us slower swingers. I have 2 dozen each of Callaway Super Softs and Titleist Truesofts sitting in the basement waiting for next season. I really do think golf balls have come a long way since I started playing.....longer, straighter, softer, better feel, etc. Can't see how they'll get any better really, but I suppose they will !

What ball did you use in your personal best round? My best round to par was a +4, 76. It was on a 9 hole, relatively short, par 36 course in Turkey. We played the blue tees one nine, then the white tees the other nine. Made for some different angles, but basically the same course. I have no idea what ball I played that with. Likely it was Lady, Lady SIII (or something like that), or Laddie. My best round, it my heart, was a +6, 77 on McGuire AFB in 2010. I played that with a Nike One Black.

What ball are you gaming now and how does it compare to your all time favorite?

I'm currently playing the Nike RZN Black. I like it. It's soft off the putter and irons, spins enough into the greens, but doesn't spin like a top on less than spectacular hits.

Tried a ton of different balls through the years, cheapos and premium. Gave up on the high dollar balls as they do nothing for me. And makes no sense to spend extra $$ when something else will produce same results, at lower cost. I remember starting out with the old Rock Flites and graduated to Maxfli Blue Max, which was a top dollar ball in it's time. Realized at that point about the benefits(none) of pricey balls and dropped into the Top Flite x-outs($5/doz.) which seemed to be a better ball than the reg. TF balls. Go figure. The last several years I've used the(original) Callaway Warbirds a lot, along with the Pinnacle Exception. Both dirt cheap, when they have them, at RBG. The newer Warbird is a harder ball, still with super distance from the tee, but the fw shots are not so good as the original ball. The Exception is just a great all around ball. The Laddie is a good ball and have played it a lot; still have a few sleeves left for colder days. I've now settled into the TF Gamer; farthest off the tee and easy to hit off the fw, same as the Exception(for me anyway). Price is right.(hear that/read that John??)

Par4QC Good to hear that about the Gamer in comparison to the Exception. I didn't play the Exception much, but enough to know it worked well for me. I'd probably be playing it now if they still made it. Hoping to possibly get out tomorrow and try the Gamer Soft if the weather holds out.

Mostly Titleist ProV1x. When I played on the mini tours, I had Maxfli as an equipment sponsor and liked and used their balls for a year or two. Today, PRO V1X

GLFTPS You're the 3rd person that talked about the ProVIx. I just went to look up what the difference between the standard ProV1 and the x and it cleared up a misconception for me. The x is supposed to give a slightly higher launch angle and increased spin (which I actually need to help with carry). For some reason, I thought the x was the pro version of the ball that required very high swing speeds to compress and get working and haven't even thought about trying it. As it is, I don't get enough compression on the ProV1 to hit it as far as some of the low compression balls and I don't have the short game skills to take advantage of its other properties. But I do like how it generally performs. I'll need to look and see if I can find some ProV1x reclaimed or refurbished balls just to try and see if the differences help me.

Started playing in 66 or 67 and played the Acushnet Club Special for many years.

We were each handed a Club Special standing on the first tee by our high school golf coach in the early 70's. We knew we were toast before hitting our first shot because the kids from the big schools were given Titleists by their coach 😁

Spuzz very good ball, I forget the name but there was another that preceded it, similar name that was also a good ball from Wilson, 3 pc. Ionimer cover, but I forget the name. those flat bottom dimples I thought were good in the wind....and one of those tx4 iterations was firm, like hitting a brick.....and yep utri,s were money the extra spin and extra distance.were the same ball as the Nike ta2 lng abd spn, the original dimple in dimple design, may be same similar as to what you see in the current Bridgestone b330 line

I was sorting my balls yesterday and found three dozen of the Hopkins Golf 2 piece balls. I played these for at least a full season and were one of the better 2 piece balls I ever hit. They had some kind of affiliation with UPS for their balls and wedges. You could get 4 doz. balls shipped for under $40. That didn't last long and the company went tits up.

Never played any Nike balls whatsoever.
My only friend became a Bridgestone guy when I became a Precept guy.
His choice was too pricey for me but those balls were/are still great. (B330s in the gayazz blue box) lol
