It would vary, of course. What was available to Nelson, Hogan, Nicklaus, etc. back in the day (regarding equipment) compared to what players like Tiger, Spieth, etc. would use today - would be quite significant.
Hogan and Nicklaus would still be competitive, assuming that they had access and experience using the same equipment used today. Whether they would win - who knows. Can't disregard Nelson...
So assuming they hit the ball similarly, I would give Nicklaus a win at Augusta, just from his experience, putting, and success there. As far as Hogan.... I would think he'd managed St. Andrews based on his shot-making and the fact that even today - you don't have to be a great putter to win there. I'd give Nelson a win at Pinehurst, simply because no one controlled his ball flight better, and could find the proper angles into those small, complicated greens. But as it relates to Pebble Beach - if we're talking about "primes" - Tiger would win there 7/10 times.
As for the equipment they would use - who knows... And honestly - I'm not sure it would matter. Anything they would use today compared to what they used back then would be more forgiving, straighter, and longer. It would simply come down to adjusting to the style of play, given the differences between then and today.
