Masters Programming Alert!

If you're like me, if you weren't following golf back during that time, and outside of reading about it or seeing a few interviews about it over the years, tonight might possibly scratch an itch.

Golf Channel is airing a documentary called '86 - the year Nicklaus turned the golf world upside down by winning his 6th Green Jacket at 46 years of age. It's scheduled to air @ 9:00 pm tonight EST.

I was a junior in high school at the time, as golf was still about 4 years away from popping up on my personal interest radar. And although I've read many an article, watched many interviews about it over the years, there is still a significant part of me that wishes I'd gotten into golf sooner, if for no other reason than to be able to say that I witnessed one (if not THE) most miraculous moments in Masters history.

I will definitely be tuning in.

I enjoyed it. I didn't particularly care for the Seve montage that broke out midway through (no slight to Seve) but I suppose they were trying to provide a backdrop of Jack's main competition that week.

I thought getting the different fans and spectators "Where were you when it happened" stories were pretty cool. I must say, however, that it is very unusual to have a sentimental program about Jack without Arnie being at least some small part of it, talking about Jack.

That hints to me that Arnie must not be doing too well. Hope I'm wrong about that.

But the program was certainly worth watching - two thumbs up.

I had forgotten how Greg Norman choked with his approach shot on #18. As Tiger would say he crop dusted one into the gallery right of the green. Still had a 12 footer to tie and of course missed it. Tom Kite missed a very makeable putt to tie also. The back story on the yellow shirt was nice along with the Response putter story.

One of my favorite stories about that final round was in a program I watched and his son Jackie who was on his bag said they were standing in the 15th fairway and Jack asked him "How far do you think a 3 would go here?" And he said he knew his dad didn't mean 3 iron. He knew his dad was in full on kill mode and looking to put that thing away. He said when he heard his dad ask that it made his hair stand up.
