I saw The Godfather when it first came out in 1972 in a packed theater in Hyannis MA.. I was 17. Read the book and couldn’t wait to see it. Sat next to Match Game TV host Gene Rayburn who had a home on the Cape.
Saw it with a buddy of mine who thought his father’s restaurant was financed by the Mafia. Lol We used to call my buddy Luca Brasi. He was built like him. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched it over the years.
Great movie. Launch the careers of Al Pacino, James Caan and Robert Duval. And resurrected the career of Marlon Brando. Now you have to watch Godfather II which is just as good.
Oops, just read where you thought it was overrated. Try doing a marathon and watch Godfather I and II back to back. I didn’t like Godfather III myself.
