I think you’ll enjoy it. Growing up in Celtic country as a kid (Cape Cod, MA) Bill Russell and the Celtics were everything if you played basketball. Looking at his life as a whole from a distance with history as a perspective is very impressive.
In real time who knows if you’re on the correct side of history. But in his case he was. Every step of the way. I was too young to recognize his importance beyond basketball.
One very impressive human being. Lucky enough to see him play in person and have an autographed basketball with his signature.
Some say legacy is a trivial thing. Listening to players of his generation and beyond cement his legacy on and off the court ensures his memory will live on.
Some professional athletes transcend their sports. Bill Russell is at the pinnacle of that. Excuse my hyperbole. But he was a huge part of my generations experience both on and off the court.
