It was an incredible game, everything you could hope for. Kids battling it out, refs letting them play ball and not calling ticky-tack fowls, good coaching and some excellent defense being played.
I underestimated Villanova. I thought they were a good team obviously, but I felt like there was no way they were going to continue to stay that hot with their shooting all game long. Hell - they shot lights out the entire tournament. You'd figure it has to end sometime, right?
All credit to those kids. They played hard-nose ball, contesting every pass, hands up on defense, diving for loose balls and just really making North Carolina earn every point they scored. When that kid for NC hit that miraculous, off-balance hail mary of a 3-pointer with 4 seconds left - I was like, "This isn't supposed to end this way!"
And it didn't.
It was a great night to be a sports fan.
