darpar My home course is about 7-8 mins.away, all the rest of the 10 or so courses less than 20 mins. max.
Spartan The course for my summer league is less than 10 minutes. When I belonged to a private club it was less than 15 minutes.
PA-PLAYA Approximately 15 miles, averages 25 minutes. Unless... I get behind a farming tractor on the backroads.... then it's 30 minutes. That's the price I'm willing to pay to live in a more rural setting.
d5n03 40 minutes to the course where I play in a weekly league. I regularly play other courses that range from a 5 to a 30 minute commute.
letthebigdogshunt swinnea I feel your pain. We belonged to a course (Robert Trent Jones JR) that was 35-40 minutes away except when we also got behind a farm tractor then it could be as much as an hour. The road we take is a two lane that has very few passing opportunities. That plus the fact that in the winter some of the road would (black)ice over and was very dangerous to drive. In fact one day we drove past our Asst pro's car that was in a ditch. He had lost control on a slippery slope. That was our last year playing there.
Martee 7 minutes, a bit less if I hit the traffic light green. I miss the days of living on the course, those that do are lucky IMO.
Weirfan RobertThomas I enjoy playing different courses but play 90 % at 2 and never get bored. My home course i play 3 different sets of tees 6200+, 6650 and just over 7000 ( theres another at 7300+ but i only played it twice) which all give different looks and can call for different shots. For example from the short tees i can only use driver on 3 holes because of hazards or fairway running out so many irons/ hybrids from the longer tees i can use driver on 10 holes . Big multi tiered greens can make for 3 club diffrence on approaches too.
Larryd3 We live in the subdivision where our club is located so about 1 mile, just a couple minutes. I've actually walked there from the house. We're very fortunate that the club has 2 18 hole courses so we get some variety.
rsvman The closest course to my house is maybe a drive, a 3-wood, and a 5-iron away, as the crow flies. The road to it is a bit roundabout, but I'd say I can get there in less than 3 minutes, typically.
fatshot I live 15 minutes from the course I consider my "home course" (although I'm not a member there....just play it a lot). I play there once a week, then also play in a traveling group where I drive anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes to most of the courses. Getting to the point where I'm thinking about just joining the nearby course because of the many upgrades and improvements they've added the last few years. Weighing between saving money on gas and greens fees vs. giving up seeing my regular group with whom I worked for many years before we all retired. I'll probably stay where I am for another year or two before making any changes.....
puttnfool I normally play fairly close, but I have traveled as far as 5,296 miles, give or take a few, to play.
johnnydoom I don't play very often. I have three courses (pay to play about $45 on weekends) within 5 miles. Used to have one across the street, but it is strip malls now. There are probably 15 public courses within 25 miles of my house and I don't mind playing any of them if that is what my friends want to play. If I played more often it might matter, but right now I don't care if the commute is up to an hour and like having fairly easy access to a wide variety of courses at various price points and quality levels.
RobertThomas So far, playing Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next week, all different courses. Retirement has its benefits.
Willis The 36 hole golf course i play on the weekend is about 20-25 minutes away. The course i play my Wednesday night golf league at is 30-45 minutes from where i work.
limpalong 5 minutes. Member owned public course where I play 99% of my golf. To me, the social aspect is what makes the game fun. Have a great "geezer group" where we play for big bucks... quarters... and make it fun.
