I believe you are correct.
It used to be used in some fw woods, but then 15-5 steel became popular for those.
Likely due to better wear and tear issues, if i recall correctly.
For me, if an iron isn't made of carbon steel or soft cast (304 steel) or some variation, I quit reading about it.
