These days I prefer a sneaker-type golf shoe. And although I've owned several sneaker-type models of Sketchers - I'll just simply say that if you're like me and prefer a sneaker-type shoe (not overly concerned about morning dew/moisture) - New Balance is equally as good a brand as Sketchers, and about 30% cheaper.
That said - I've nothing bad to say about Sketchers, other than the price. I've owned several pairs of Sketchers over the years and they've been very comfortable. They're just a bit more expensive than the New Balance that I've purchased recently.
For someone who deals with occasional bouts of plantar fasciitis throughout the season - comfort indeed matters. I just prefer softer leather/sneaker-type shoes and New Balance is just as good. And less expensive imo.
