Thinking back to reasons for what keeps my scores in mid 90s, the two biggest issues , not only by any meams, has been, first and foremost , that my approach shots end up just off the green, requiring a chip or short pitch, costing at least one extra shot. I practice those more than anything but when on the course , didn't apply it well. It keeps my GIR Stat in the toilet , 2 or 3. Just have to find a way to improve that, else I'll never break into high 80s.
Second biggest issue blocking improvement is 3 putts. Had 4 in 9 holes last time out. My best days I'll have around 31 putts total in 18 holes. That leaves me 58 strokes to break 90, 3.22 per hole, or better required .
A bogy on every hole would give me 90. If I had only 31 putts the I'd gain 5 strokes, or an 85 total. That leaves me only 4 strokes to burn , somewhere.
I don't usually putt that well, so MAYBE, gain 2 strokes putting leaves only two to give up. I need to chip it close and get more 1 putts. With any Penalties or blowups forgetaboutit.
MAN, Breaking 90 is HARD if you're a once a week week bogy player!
Maybe <95 is a pretty good hacker score after all.
