Spring is in full glory in south MS. Dogwoods and azaleas breaking into bloom. Pine fronds litter the greens keeping grounds crews busy. Pollen count off the charts. 85* last two days. Feb has past, yippee , survived another winter.
Had ROB , Retired old basta--$, gathering yesterday. Blind draw scramble, was great day. Had fine "A " golfer with a TM Jetspeed lead for our flight, driving out to 270. Ahh, wish to have that shot. Had eagle and 5 birdies on first 6 holes, thought we'd destroy the course, but putting left the group.
I contributed a few good shots, birdied the 125 yd parr 3 turtle back hole, with my 9 iron shot to front of green used and my one putt. I usually double that hole or worse, so it was my feel good hole of the day.
We didn't place in top three but had good time on a wonderful day. My cart partner was 88 yrs old. Lives just by the #7 hole , plays three times a week! He drives out near 160+ with a reshafted LD Cobra, always string straight . Plays antique steel shafted Titleist irons, worn out three wood & a chipper. We used his putts on probably 6 holes or more. I think he's going to be playing well into his 90s. He said his wife wanted him to get some new clubs, but he said he'd not learned to use these yet. They were given to him!
I should learn from him.
