So, I played Kickingbird GC (http://edmondok.com/1102/Tour-the-Course) again today. Figured I'd try the tips out and see how it went. The tips play ~6700 yards. This is up from about 6200 yards at the next tee forward, where I usually play.
Started out rough with double, par, double, par, double. Took a couple of bogies, then rounded out the front at +10, 45. The back always plays a bit easier (except last week when I had a chance to break 80 and stumbled in with doubles on 16-18. Anyway, I ended up parring the long par 5, 15th, on the back of a 30' putt. After that, I came to 16 and was determined to do better than last week.
I put a 5i on the 16th into a pretty good breeze. Lagged to about 2' and made par. Hole 17, I hit what was probably my best drive of the day. Roughly 260ish, into a steady breeze, probably 10-15 mph. Missed the green short, pitched up and made about a 12' putt for par. Took a bogey on 18 after leaving my drive in jail on the right, but gave it a good run with a lipped out putt from the fringe.
Walked off with an 88. After an 84 from the "normal" tees, I wasn't too upset with an 88 from the tips.
Just hoping to get 2-4 rounds/month in during the autumn/winter so I can keep at it for next year.
