Rickochet Typhoon Yes, if u have a pic of the clamp that'd be great. I started a new thread on this in Equipment.
Rickochet Typhoon Oh my God...that's the picture....gotta be what, 8 years ago? At least. Started with FGI in '02. How about this jewel, my Club Ho Roto? A rotisserie motor turns the club at 3 rpm with a fixed heat gun that will not scorch a hosel. I probably should have gotten a patent on this. π
mulegolf Rickochet Looks like my set up for installing whipping thread on old wooden wood heads. I also used it to install thread wrapping on a pool cue.
Rickochet sdandrea1 You could roast a pheasant too! Can do. My son just brought some back from a shoot in South Dakota.
Rickochet I have to post this to give some kudos to 3balls. I was in search of a lob wedge to fill out my set of Eye 2's. I had a good week of ho'ing and had the hot fingers. I found an Eye 3 LW at a very nice price on a a bid listing which I normally don't do, usually do buy it now and made the minimum bid. When I got the notice it was for an Eye 2 GX. I just let it slide figuring I would get out bid. Not. Got the notice that I had won. Called 3balls and explained that I had goofed and they cancelled the order within 10 minutes. Great customer service and very polite and professional.
Rickochet sdandrea1 Nothing wrong with an Eye 2 XG wedge. Modern grooves on Eye 2 design! Just not enough loft gap from the Eye 2 SW. BTW, got the Eye 2 L today. What a beast. Sets up well to my eyes at address. Me likey. π I can't believe that Spuzz says that these are fugly.
sdandrea1 Rickochet I have the Eye 2 + W, SW and LW in my bag with the Hogan irons. They're automatic.
Typhoon "Beauty is in the eye of the beerholder"...I love mine. Spuzz may need to hold a beer to change his perspective.π
Bigborgel When Karsten was alive, you could tell all their irons were designed by engineers, just butt fugley, now, at least have some style, and yes, they do still perform.
sdandrea1 The Ben Hogan irons continue to claim their place in my bag. Made an eagle today on the 2nd hole on my league match with a 6 iron from 146. Didn't get to see it go in, but we all knew it would be close - the shot felt perfect. These irons fit me well. I went out in the garage to spec them (weight/length wise) to try and understand why a set of graphite-shafted irons feel so right in my hands - they typically feel too light for me. Nothing special jumps out. (weight = total weight of the club).
Typhoon sdandrea1 Eagle!! U better be careful, the hdcp is gonna drop...you'll ah e to make more points!!! U better sandbag a few roundsπ
sdandrea1 Typhoon I thought I was gonna go low on this one, but started leaking oil on the back. Shot 36 /46 on a par 70. Handicap is safe.π
rsvman Great shot, though! Wow. Hole in one recently, more you're holing out from the fairway........must be nice.
Bigborgel Steve- your scores will improve if you stick to one set of clubs consistently. I found switching back and forth slows down your forward progress. That's probably why I just traded for a new set of irons....
Rickochet Bigborgel Steve- your scores will improve if you stick to one set of clubs consistently. I found switching back and forth slows down your forward progress. That's probably why I just traded for a new set of irons.... I have several sets of irons that I rotate depending on course conditions and the state of my game. One set does better in wet conditions and not so good on hard turf. Also I score better with more of a players club when I am playing frequently and swinging well. If I am in a slump or not playing much I stick to more of a GI type iron. I have not "yet" found one set that does it all. The search for the one set of holy grail irons has yet to be found. Plus, I like to ho and tinker. π
