LLeft on Monday,11/6 with 2 of my buds to for 3 days of golf at my cottage at Reynolds Lake Oconee. After a 4 1/2 hour ride we went to a 9 hole tract in Eatonton,GA named the "Uncle Remus Golf Course", just to loosen up and get some swings in. Well, it's like its name, terrible fairways, fuzzy greens that were so high , our putts couldn't reach the cup if you used a 3 wood. To its credit, it played about 3,100 yds and was an interesting topography of hills. Lost 4 balls in 9 holes, due to the height of the fairway grass. Anyway, after drowning our woes in many beers and marts that evening, on Tuesday we set out to play my local course, The Landing, a Cupp design, sloped at 136. We played from the #3 tees , roughly 6,100 yds. What amazing holes, several of the front 9 holes played on Lake Oconee, with a back 9 that borders on being mountainous. I was thrilled to break 100 (barely), with my buds shooting better, 2 pairs of 47's and 45's. Guest rate was posted as $102, but we were charged $67, a super deal. My $20K membership only lets me on 3 of the 7 courses, with one course reserved for platinum ($65K) members only. Guests that rent a cottage, condo or stay at the Ritz can play for $100.
It's rich but the quality of the courses is exceptional.
PS- only reason I got a membership is because we rent out our cottage all year, and guests want the amenity
packages that you only get with a membership.
