Tinker Why in the world( other than a bad back) would anyone want longer short irons? The reason they are easy to hit is because they are shorter, more upright and the ball is closer to your body. Sl irons make the long irons shorter for better contact but the short irons longer, doesn’t seam logical.
Surprisingly, the shorter irons is where my game improved the MOST after switching to single length irons! I figured I'd see more of an improvements on the longer irons/hybrids, which I don't use nearly as much as the shorter irons. But in fact it was just the opposite. I have stayed fairly erratic with my longer irons, but my <150 yard game has improved tremendously. I think it's just due to the repetability of the swing with every club in the bag, so whether I'm swinging a 4i, 7i, or PW, my stance, ball placement, swing plane, etc, are all identical.
