I was recently looking in the box stores for elcheapo balls to give away in a small event for church members. Some low end balls, i.e. Nitro and others, put a dozen balls or more in a box without sleeves. These companies understand they are marketing to the masses at the bottom of the ball chain and look for every way possible to cut the cost of the product.
I ended up spending just a little more by buying a few boxes of the Wilson Titanium 6 sleeve boxes (18 balls) for our prizes for about $8 dozen average cost. It's the thrill for the casual golfing men and women of coming to the front after hearing your name called and picking up the spoils for the numerous flag, team, and individual prizes. The 3 pack sleeves to handout were ideal for our purposes and as I passed out the balls to the more serious players, I smiled and quipped, "practice balls". Our church covered the cost of the balls and all the entrants needed to do to enter the event was cover their individual green and cart fee.
Still snickering at my choice of Wilson Staff Titanium 2-piece Surlyn covered balls? Why, over 1000 reviews have been made on Amazon with an average rating of 4.4 - 5 and 85% of those reviewers rated the ball a 4 or 5 star! This review 'sold the deal' - "Getting a good hit is rare for me but when I do, these things grow wings." <wink>
